Methanol, also known as hydroxyl methane, is an organic compound, toxic. It is the simplest saturated monoalcohol. CAS Number 67-56-1. The molecular weight is 32.04. The boiling point is 64.7 ° C. Because it is discovered for the first time in dry run wood, it is also called "wood alcohol" or "wood essence". The lowest dose of oral poisoning is about 100mg/kg body weight, 0.3 ~ 1g/kg oral intake can be fatal. For the manufacture of formaldehyde and pesticides, and used as organic extraction agent and alcohol denaturing agent. The finished product is usually made by reacting carbon monoxide with hydrogen.
